To Robert Lindsay Date: BRISTOL, October 7, 1781. I have no money; and Mr. Atlay writes me word that I am above two hundred pounds behindhand, that is, on my own account, over and above what I owe on account of the new chapel in London. Now and then, indeed, I have a legacy left me. Should such a thing occur, I would reserve it for Kilkenny. If I find a proper preacher that can be spared, I will send him to you. Be discouraged at nothing: God is on our side. I am, dear Robert, Your affectionate friend and brother.
