Justly, O Lord, thou dost require The industry of man, And seeking with our whole desire We cannot seek in vain: Thee if we follow on to know, We must thy sweetness prove, And find our paradise below Th' experience of thy love. "But if ye forsake him, he will forsake you." II. Chron. xv. 2. Faithful, O God, thy threatning word, And righteous thy decree, Whoe'er deny their gracious Lord Shall be denied by thee: His pardon, who to sin turns back, Thou surely wilt revoke, Th' apostate utterly forsake And blot out of thy book. "The eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them, whose heart is perfect towards him." II. Chron. xvi. 9.
